Las Vegas, Nev.—DuctSox, a leading manufacturer of fabric duct air dispersion products, named Air Commodities Inc., Seattle, Wash., as “DuctSox Manufacturer’s Representative of the Year--2010” Feb. 1, at the International Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Exposition (2011 AHR Expo), in Las Vegas, Nev.
The 25-year-old manufacturer’s representative firm landed several large and diverse projects in its territory of Western Washington and Oregon that exhibited a diverse set of applications using the entire breadth of the Dubuque, Iowa-based fabric manufacturer's line.
One major project Air Commodities landed for DuctSox was Seattle University's Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons addition. Consulting engineer firm, CGi Engineers, Lynnwood, Wash., specified UnderFloorSox™, a fabric air dispersion system designed to distribute and disperse conditioned air to perimeter and high-heat load locations in Under Floor Air Distribution (UFAD) Systems. UFSox helped eliminate the six-story, $55 million building's shaft size and make more of the 125,000-square-foot floor space available for library collections, according to Jim Sinclair, president of Air Commodities, who accepted the award from DuctSox President, Cary Pinkalla.
Sinclair also attributes the outstanding sales year to other DuctSox projects such as: 1) Haselwood Family YMCA, Silverdale, Wash., a 150,000-square-foot recreation center using DuctSox's premium Sedona-Xm™ fabric duct that features 55-percent recycled green content for the pools, exercise rooms, lobbies and other areas; 2) Two WinCo Foods grocery stores in Lacey, Wash., and Vancouver, Wash., which used DuctSox's premium TufTex™ fabric; and 3) a Salem, Wash.-based Sanyo warehouse.
“Air Commodities exceeded our qualifications criteria for this award by consistently producing orders every month out of both the Seattle and Portland, Ore., branches and surpassing quotas during a recessionary year,” said John Coakley, national sales manager, DuctSox, Dubuque, Iowa.
